Best of 2015: The Beauty of…Whatever is Lovely

By Jamie B.

I never grew out of coloring. Why? Because coloring is awesome. This new wave of adult coloring books is one of the greatest things ever! Being able to worship in a creative environment is yet another possibility I didn’t see coming, but again I’m glad it’s here!

“Color your way to peace and worship.

We live in such a busy, hectic world—but what waits for you inside this cover is a way to quiet the noise, express creativity, and spend some sweet time with God. Each page features an original design from one of a dozen different artists, beautifully illustrating a contemplative quote from an inspirational writer, a beloved hymn, or Scripture.

When we create, we echo the heart of our Creative God who designed everything and gave us the capacity to recognize beauty.

So go ahead! You have permission to pick up your colored pencil and be reminded of truth in a fresh way.”

My first thought when I opened the box was that this was such a pretty book! The cover has a bit of shimmer and this may just be me, but that helps my creative spirit start flowing. The pages are large and thick, so they can handle any the coloring, so no need to fear you’re going to accidentally rip them out.

The individual coloring pages are awesome! There’s variety in scripture and inspiring sayings, as well as the pictures. It is definitely one of my favorites. If you love coloring and Jesus, I promise you’ll love this – it’s relaxing and provides encouraging reminders.

Oh!!!! And it has a Spotify playlist you can listen to while coloring. It’s awesome.

Here’s one of the works in progress:
