Like plenty of other social-media users, Facebook founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg took to his FB page to share his resolutions for the New Year:
“My challenges in recent years have been to read two books every month, learn Mandarin and meet a new person every day. My personal challenge for 2016 is to build a simple AI [artificial intelligence] to run my home and help me with my work. You can think of it kind of like Jarvis in Iron Man.”
Zuckerberg’s rezzie is no doubt awesome, but it was an exchange in the comments section of his status that really got people talking when one commenter wrote, “I keep telling my granddaughters to date the nerd in school, he may turn out to be a Mark Zuckerberg!” That comment prompted maybe the best comeback ever from the tech entrepreneur:
“Even better would be to encourage them to be the nerd in their school so they can be the next successful inventor!”
How awesome is that? The commenter was quick to clarify that her comment was meant as a friendly joke and that, as a single mom, grandma and entrepreneur herself, she’s all about girls and women being self-made. Still, we can’t help but be glad her teasing prompted such an awesome response from Zuckerberg.
Don’t just date the nerd (though you can do that, too!)—be the nerd.
