Ten Little Ways to Boost Your Positive Attitude

When things get tough, it’s so easy to focus on everything that’s wrong with your life. Soon enough, you’re allowing something as small as dropping your pencil during class to ruin your day. But when you take little steps to shift your mentality and be more positive, your whole outlook on life changes for the better. To get you started, here are 10 little things you can do to stay positive!

STAY-POSITIVE STEP 1: Be Thankful

Whether it’s thanking your mom for dropping you off at school every day or appreciating the deliciousness that is cookie-dough ice cream, learn to enjoy the little things.

STAY-POSITIVE STEP 2: Compare Yourself to No One

Everyone has tough stuff going on in her life, but no need to post about it on Instagram—only publicize the good stuff. So instead of being jealous of someone’s trip to the Dominican Republic, think about that awesome time you had at the park with your besties last month.

STAY-POSITIVE STEP 3: Fake It ’til Ya Make It

If you pretend you’re positive, soon enough you will be. It’s all about believing in yourself and knowing anything is possible once you set your mind to it.

STAY-POSITIVE STEP 4: Start a Happiness Jar

Every time something good happens, jot it down on a colorful piece of paper and drop it in a jar. Next time you catch yourself with negative thoughts, pick some notes out of the jar to remind yourself of the great things in your life, like that time you aced a Spanish test or saw the prettiest flowers in your neighbor’s garden.

Or make some music, for that matter. Nothing beats a T-Swizzle jam sesh, especially if you’re playing along on your guitar.
