True Beauty and Your Wardrobe Essentials

Personal style for me has been the way I get to tell my story and progression throughout my life. The way I dress continues to change and evolve, just as I do. Right now, I would consider my style to be feminine and classic. But no matter what your style is, the important thing is that you feel your absolute best.

You will never be comfortable with the clothes you put on if you’re uncomfortable in your own skin, as your appearance reflects who you are on the inside.

Every wardrobe, regardless of your individual style, must begin with a good foundation. As you build your wardrobe, remember not to become obsessed with trends. One year it’s all about neon colors, and the next it’s soft pastel shades—so have fun with fashion, but be sure to focus on what you feel great in.

The Inspired Girl’s Closet Essentials

Styles will come and go, but having the basics will help you build your own individual look. With that in mind, here are some wardrobe essentials that every girl needs in her closet.

1. Good Bra

Start your wardrobe with a well-fitting and flattering bra. Take the time and opportunity to get fitted so you can determine your correct size. Many stores offer this service with no purchase necessary. After the fitting, you should feel more confident in the size and style that works best for you. Get a nude one that you can wear with everything, but try it on underneath a T-shirt so you can make sure there are no obvious lines or bulges.

2. Camisoles

Camisoles go with absolutely every outfit. I use my tan, white, and black camisoles all the time. They’re helpful under sheer tops, work as good layering pieces, and are an inexpensive investment.

3. Black or White Tee

Tees are easy to wear because you can keep it casual for the day and simply change up the accessories for a night look. Black and white T-shirts pretty much go with everything—just keep color combinations in mind. Black can look a little harsh with certain colors such as orange, and you don’t want to wash yourself out by pairing white with a lot of lighter tones. Use your T-shirts as pieces that showcase but don’t overshadow a great pair of pants or statement necklace.

4. Dark Denim

Because a dark wash can be paired with almost anything, it will become a go-to item in your everyday life. If you are setting out to buy a new pair of dark-wash jeans, go for a boot cut, which is versatile and flattering on everyone. If you find a pair of jeans that fit well but the price tag is a little too high, keep an eye out in the clearance section. There are so many types of jeans to choose from, and depending on your body type, your favorite brands will vary.

5. Versatile Dress

Whether it’s a little black dress or a casual day dress, these wardrobe essentials can be worn in endless ways all year long. To get the most out of your dress, go for a solid color that flatters your shape and complements your skin tone. Invest in a classic style, which you can change up by adding trendy statement pieces like jewelry and belts.

6. Jean Jacket

You will get a ton of wear out of your jacket, since you can wear it with most of your casual outfits. Pick a style and wash you love, and wear it with your day dress and maxi skirts. Or pair it with skinny black denim, a striped shirt, and cute booties—comfortable and chic.

7. Cute Flats

Who doesn’t love comfy flats? A classy pair can be worn with pants, jeans, skirts, and dresses. Every girl should own a pair that goes with everything! Find a style that works for you. Do you like a embellishment on them? A little leopard print? Or maybe a pretty metallic accent, like gold? After you decide what you prefer, you can find nice flats almost anywhere in the mall.
